Great place, staff were friendly and helpful. Beer was excellent. Decor was fantastic. Loved my visit. Hope to pop in again.

This is probably the best real ale pub in Lichfield which is a tall order given the competition. Never had a bad pint of bitter here and always has a great selection of real ales to choose from. I would have awarded it five stars but I’m slightly disappointed at their policy of reserving tables. Have been turned away three times over the past week as the pub was ‘fully booked’ with only outdoor space available. Whilst I have no issue with making a booking in advance there are the odd occasions where an impromptu pint is always nice to have. Being turned away when it was clear that a few tables were available for a quick pint before the guests arrived was a tad disappointing to be honest. We all have respect for how hard it is to be a publican particularly during these difficult times but come on folks, we are middle aged respectable patrons that want to support you. Don’t turn us away as you’ll end up losing good customers.
