Having eaten fresh, pipen hot takoyaki from an old ba-chan on the streets of Osaka, takoyaki is one of the few dishes I feel I can speak with some authority. As much as I love takoyaki, this place is not it. I understand that going to Japan and eating the foods of Japan gives a certain lens, where all Japanese food in Hawaii tastes bad after. I don't want to do that here. If I compared this to Osaka takoyaki, it's maybe a 2. If this is the first takoyaki I ate ever, it's a very solid 4 1/2. So I'll split it right down the middle and say 3.

Unfortunately, both times I’ve eaten here the takoyaki isn’t fully cooked so that when you get to the middle, you’re eating batter. The seafood pancake is great though!
OM*G, discovering this place has changed my life! Lol, ok - a little dramatic, but this is the BEST TAKOYAKI I've ever had. Before you go in on me, I tried their Takoyaki at the Kailua Farmers Market. The signs they had up said that they made it with shrimp that they caught in Kailua. Before this place, I liked Takoyaki - but making it with SHRIMP?! GAMECHANGER - forreal, forreal. I believe I got 10 pieces for 11-12, and I got 5 topped with their ponzu/mayo sauce and another 5 with their kimchi. One thing to note about the food portions in Hawaii, is that they are larger than what we're use to on the mainland. I (kinda) shared mine with my husband and he loved them just as much as I did! I literally still dream of these umami balls of amazingness. If you're a seafood & shrimp lover - this is a must!
Always busy but worth the wait!
CHEESE TAKOYAKI is an interesting idea, but the takoyaki did not burn my mouth, which essentially means it was cold. Since it was cold, the cheese did not melt nicely on top. Also, there was a lot of batter with very little octopus.
Good okonomiyaki, but the takoyaki was completely undercooked on the inside (liquid batter) and swimming in a pool of mayo—way too much sauce and bonito! I couldn’t finish a small order, which was a first for me. The cashier was pretty unfriendly too.
Don’t come here no matter how much you’re craving takoyaki. I ordered 5 regular takoyaki. I saw the person making the order and she was refilling sauces and didn’t close one of the caps. When she flipped the bottle to pour the sauce, can you guess what happened? Half the bottle’s sauce poured all the balls. You would think she would just throw it away and start again but instead she just moved the takoyaki into a different container and proceeded to finish up the rest of the steps. I got my order and the cashier was in a bad mood so I couldn’t even say anything. I opened the box to see even if there was a chance to eat it. It was drenched and swimming in the tonkatsu sauce. We just threw it away. Customer service is the worst.
Better to eat the stuff fresh here. The takoyaki and okonomiyaki is pretty good.
