Holmes & Family were so kind and understanding following the death of my mum. They were patient and helpful throughout despite being extremely busy during this difficult pandemic. Although the funeral could not be the one we would have wanted to plan during normal times, Holmes & Family made it the best it could possibly be with all the restrictions we had to adhere to. The flowers were beautiful and the order of service was done very professionally. I am extremely grateful in particular to Sarah and Oliver who helped me through the whole process of planning the funeral and being there until the end.

When my mum passed away, I found myself calling Holmes at 10pm not really knowing what to say, what to ask or what I needed. Alex gently helped me through the conversation, with such kindness and professionalism. He was with us within the hour, immaculately dressed, so calm and reassuring. All decisions were ours to make, and he guided us through gently. The next day I contacted Sarah in the office. Over the next few weeks Sarah helped me work through each step of planning for mum’s service and burial. Sarah is a marvel. No detail was too small, no question too daft – it felt so natural to chat through each element with her. Sarah was so responsive to my questions over the weeks leading up to the service; always friendly, always helpful and knowledgeable, always patient. She liaised with others on my behalf, helping to chase things for me. It felt like Sarah was as keen to get everything perfect for mum as I was, helping me navigate through choices. Alex called me the day before the service, making sure I was comfortable with all that was planned and gave me a chance to ask any further questions. Alex led the team on the day of the service, and they were wonderful. Every single detail was covered, everything ran smoothly, and we felt so reassured by their professionalism and compassion. The same was true at the cemetery. I cannot praise Holmes highly enough. I would recommend them with no hesitation. They are simply excellent in all they do. They helped us through such a difficult time, we will be forever grateful to them.

My family and I would like to thank Sarah, Oliver, and team for their help and support following the death of my father. Their knowledge and professionalism guided us through a difficult time, made worse by the pandemic, while making the whole experience immeasurably easier with their kindness and empathy. Holmes handled the funeral service for my elderly second cousin with immense professionalism and empathy. Sarah was wonderfully helpful, in dealing with a hiccup with the registration due to a missing death certificate, and talked us through the process, handling the ordering of flowers and order of service sheets on our behalf. Dane, the celebrant, was wonderful in leading the service and reading what I had researched and written up with the right amount of emphasis and sounded like he knew our relative, even only from reading our words. We felt able to create the funeral service we ourselves wanted with guidance and suggestion but no problem with choosing aspects ourselves as we chose poems and music that fitted our needs, rather than religious aspects others might prefer. My elderly mum was particularly complimentary in that she could hear every word, something she struggles with at many funerals. The team who attended the coffin were led by Alex a young man who was so incredibly smart and professional and the guys were all very respectful in every aspect of the service. In addition, we can highly recommend Green Ferns Florist who created a wonderful cricket bat floral tribute that fitted very well with our cousin. A family member suggested we use Holmes and Family as they had cause to use their services earlier in the year and none of us would hesitate to recommend them for the future.
