I ordered a free range turkey and 5 tiers of cheeses - estimated cost 60. I collected the items (long wait in queue but it is Christmas), both items had my name and the date of collection in black marker pen on the outer packaging. The cost was 101.95 - ouch but I didn't want to appear miserly or short of money. When I removed the outer packaging at home to put the items in the fridge I found I had a five tiers of party cheeses (serves 50!!!!) and a turkey crown. I phoned the store and was put through to the correct department who told me it would have helped if I'd checked the order on collection!!! I had wanted to get out of a crowded store, steamed up glasses and mask and put my order in my fridge. I was also told to bring the food back which I did. After another wait outside the store although they knew I was coming the staff apologised, said that it wasn't my fault and refunded me the difference in price as they gave me the correct order. They said that the turkey crown and the 50 portion cheese tier would probably have to be destroyed - what a wicked waste! All was perfectly sealed and could have been cooked that day for later consumption. I have since been told by an ex employee that I should not have been told to bring possibly Covid contaminated food back to the store. I am so sad about 101.95 of untouched, high quality food being wasted when so many people are short of money and stores are struggling to make a profit.

Absolutely shocked with the unattentive customer service. Supervisor didn't even look me in the eyes whilst speaking to me in such vulgar disgust. I get it, I didn't have ID on me but at least have the decency to look at me. Also during my Christmas shop I was standing by customer service desk ready to talk to the lady behind the counter because there was a price mix up with craft beer glasses and an older lady verbally abused me whilst saying 'shew' as if I was a disease. No one around me done anything, everyone just looked away. I have now felt racially abused and mistreated twice now in this Waitrose store. I will not be coming back as I felt very uncomfortable. I don't understand why staff look at me as if I am beneath them, as if I am going to steal something. Very upsetting experience
