EHDC are threatening to take me to court for a council tax bill that I've already paid. Instead of looking into it for me, their solution is for me to pay the bill again to avoid court action, and then prove to them I've previously paid it, so that they can reimburse me. I sent them evidence of payment weeks ago but they have not responded. I will not be paying my council tax bill twice, and their last letter said that no further reminders will be issued, so I guess I will be seeing them in court. Not a good service, nor a good use of taxpayers' money, especially when I ask for my costs to be awarded - assuming I win and don't go to prison for a bill that I've already paid, but refuse to pay twice.
This review is in relation to the council's looking after of the roads on their patch: it's awful. They don't fix things when reported through their stupid website reporting system, it seems they don't care. Photos attached of a 90mm deep pothole I've been trying to get fixed for ages. The metal rule is 30cm long for scale.
East Herts planning have been fabulous to deal with. We asked for a super contemporary house and a super contemporary house was granted. 5 stars!
Awful council. Spending the money is all that they are doing. Litter everywhere, destroyed streets, increasing the coucil tax year by year without providing anything back. Now they stopped collectind the brown bin and ask for extra money to do it. Despicable.
