I do not like posting negative reviews, however I must warn anyone travelling to the area. We came for 2 nights in Hereford specifically to canoe on the river, and after our first night we were really excited having seen the river. However in the morning we received a phone call to say the river was high and they were short staffed and for safety reasons they had to cancel. We were assured there was lots of things to enjoy in the area. The tourist information was not open in Hereford so after asking around a river cruise seemed best option. So back to car we found a very pleasant traffic warden putting a ticket on our car, then off for a cruise and spent an hour watching Canoes and Kayaks paddling up and down the river. Our experience of the area to say the least is not a good one.

As we are staying at Lucksall Campsite and we have the stunning River Wye feet away we decided to pay for a 2 hour paddle with Hereford Canoe Hire. 25 for 2 hours is, in my opinion, a bargain. We were given a thorough safety talk before entering the water. We had a great couple of hours and spotted 3 buzzards, various swans and cygnets and best of all a stoat shooting a few 100metres along the bank. Well worth a try if you're in the area. They also offer half and full day trips. Thanks for a great time.
