Welcome to Sugar Boat - a relaxed & informal neighbourhood bistro in the heart of the town on Colquhoun Square, a stones throw from the sea front. We are open daily from 10am (11am on Sunday's) through until late. We serve everything from a simple breakfast menu with cracking bacon sarnies or avocado & egg on toast, a fixed price lunch menu at £13.50/£16.50 for 2 or 3 courses & an a la carte menu available at both lunch & dinner. Cakes and scones & savoury snacks are available all day. We have a Wine Shop for off sales from our extensive list of over 75 wines - everything from £8.50 per bottle upwards. Enjoy a tip top cocktail from our bar made with premium sprits & our home made purees, cordials and juices or enjoy a pint of a locally brewed beer or a bottle of Scottish craft ale from around the country. Choose to sit on the square (there are heaters and awnings for when the wind blows & the rain falls....and it does or in our rear courtyard (again partially covered & heated).

Really sorry for the three stars. Just got back from Sunday lunch. Disappointed to say the meat was almost inedible. Very very chewy, I gave up in the end. The rest of the meal was delicious. Flavours beautiful. Such a shame. No effort was made to compensate which was also disappointing. If the meat was cooked properly this would have been an easy 5 stars.

I was a walk in and had to sit at the bar but turned out to be best places watching all the cocktails getting made, service was brilliant, food was great, cocktails amazing I've just recently moved to Helensburgh so been checking places this will most definitely be a places I be going to a LOT

Had such a lovely lunch here while me and my boyfriend were visiting Scotland, I had the fish pie and he had the lamb burger, which were both delicious and then we ate the crumble for dessert in around 30 seconds which says it all. The atmosphere was lovely and so were the staff, will definitely be back when we come to Scotland again. Also hoping the shop they have - the kitchen store - sets up online so we can buy all the lovely things!

Been here a couple times now for lunch and cocktails with friends and it is superb. The food is presented amazingly and I find the staff all really friendly. Sometimes you have to wait a little longer but I really don't mind especially as when it does arrive and its always very good. Definitely a new favourite local of mine. Highly recommended.

We stumbled across this restaurant by chance, and enjoyed one of the nicest meals we’ve had in a long time. Wish there was a Sugar Boat down in London! Highly recommended for delicious food and cocktails
