A very mixed experience. Judging from both its look from the outside and its interior it’s not the place you would think could serve the quality food we’ve got here. The place is not beautiful, but the food is well made and definitely made from the buttom. The fish is cooked in butter and the pepper relish to the burger were definitely home made. However, the prices were at bit more expensive than expected. Also a place to simply grab a beer on the rooftop and enjoy a board game.

Just landed in Bornholm and had a very welcoming experience at Cafe Emajorka - great atmosphere and fish dishes

We came to Café Emajoka in the rain, biking, and were very happy to find a place where we were not only warmly welcomed, but also had a good lunch. The burger with plenty of smoked salmon had a lot of fresh vegetables and good bread. A nice salad buffet was included. Highly recommended.

It makes me really sad to write this because this is a lovely place that gets so much right. They made one catastrophic error which spoiled the experience and makes me never want to go back, and it totally undermines all the hard work they must put in. We ordered two burgers and ”some tapwater”. Ordering tapwater in the nordic countries is very common, and you are usually told either 1. They have expensive bottled water which they charge for or 2. They give you free tapwater. I am totally happy with both options. BUT SERVERS MUST MAKE IT CLEAR WHEN ORDERING. The server replied ’ok. 4 tapwaters’ which we duly received. When we got the bill it turns out there it a third option for the ’tapwater’ request (that you might expect to find in a rip-off pizzeria by the Trevi fountain in Rome): 3. Suggest to you that you’re getting free tapwater, bring the tapwater(not bottled mineral water) and then add 12 dollars to your bill. By the way, the staff were very friendly, the place was cosy and charming and the food was 5 stars, but the tapwater rip-off was a killer.

Nice service, 5 point to the staff and if possible more to the food. The menue had only 3 main courses but the salmon and the home and burger with home made bread could be on a Michelin Restaurant - Just marvellous.
