My expericence at the Literacy Center sinse the first day l went there that the Directer took the time to see what level I was at in English. She was very patient and very helpful. I have been in this English class for 3 months it has helped me a lot in reading and writing. When I have a question the teacher helps me. I recommend this center if you want to learn how to write and read English. All the people here are very friendly it is like a big Family.

What Celina says isn't true. I'm a volunteer at the literacy center and will use Spanish if necessary.

Do not go here if you want to learn English. My mom went in trying to ask questions about how the program works they told her that they did not speak Spanish, and explained to her that once you sign up for classes no one would speak to her in Spanish. How do they expect her to learn? What if she has questions? They also mentioned that they would give you a test on the first day and if you did not pass or answer you would be kicked out of the class. It's government funded and it's cheap but the experience was horrible and the people were rude. Instead my mom signed up and paid for a class in Brownsville which was a way better alternative to this place.

i personally recommend the Literary Center because i have had excellent experiences. The volunteer teachers here do always treat the students that go here excellent. When i arrived here, i couldn't speak english, but the Director Linda Klowetter accepted me and helped me. She had the patience to understand me and helped me understand her. It gives me a great pleasure to study in this great place, and to continue to improve my english.
