Beautiful monastry with a large stone-carved christian cross under UNESCO protection As mentioned by other reviewers, it is recommended if you travel with a knowledgeable local guide who could provide a proper introduction and historical facts. Else this would seem like another monastry (which there are plenty in this region...and on the surface they all look similar).

A quite impressive monastry, up in a mountain with great views as well.
Monastery complex high on the hill overlooking the gorge of the \Crazy\ river. The church has frescoes painted in the colours which are on the Armenian flag that show the last supper and Jesus depicted holding the Bible. Very interesting.
