I was here in 2008 and enjoyed my visit very much. The collection cannot be compared with prestigeous foreign collections, but the exceptional setting with its authentic feel of historical significance is more than just a compensation. It is a pity I cannot publish more pictures, but most got lost. Highly recommended museum!

Old museum, historic site, only less interesting for the kids.
Born and raised in Haarlem and I’ve never been here before. Always heard stories of how fantastic it was. At 52 it was time to go. Maybe it was because of the Covid-19 restrictions but it seems that everything I was told about was packed together (the technical stuff) in a few rooms and made place for paintings. As I said I’ve never been here before so no comparison to how it used to be except for stories I was told.
Closed now, but a very nice museum with great exhibitions.
This is a very nice museum and it may be the oldest museum in the Netherlands. There are many historical or science items and many nice paintinga. The building is also beautiful and the staff was also friendly. There is a cafe upstairs and a gift shop on the ground floor.
