Purchased Turf last May. Noticed when loading/unloading from the car there were lots of grubs but not being a professional did'nt think much of it. Grass took well & flourished through the Summer bu by late Autumn started to go patchy. By the time Winter had finished only had 1/5 of the grass left so made the choice to returf. Started diggng over the garden & noticed there were masses of the same grubs that were originally in the soil but again didn't think much of it & laid the new turf, which i might add was grub free. Whilst relaxing in the garden noticed one of the grubs had craweled onto the patio & out of curiosity Googled what it was & turns out to be larvae of crane fly called Leatherjacket grub. Was alarmed to read that they cause damage to lawns & that if you have more than 10 per sq foot you have an infestation. Pulled a corner of the new turf back to find more than 20 per sq foot. On the advise of several websites decided i needed to treat the whole lawn with leatherjacket killer but only problem being soil has to be more than 10 degrees in temp for it to work & unfortunatly the soil is not at the moment. Had to roll the new turf back piece by piece & remove them by hand. Without exageration this took over 4 hours of back breaking work & we managed to remove in excess of 4000 larvae (photo is of a 1/3 of what we removed)! I cannot express how dissapointed i am that i was sold infested soil & that i am out of pocket by the cost of a new lawn & will have to purchase the treatment at further cost to myself. Had i known before laying the original soil what these grubs were & the potential damage they could cause i would have contacted Grasslands but over a year has passed so seems pointless now but thought i would warn potential buyers of this product.

Brought turf from my local supplier who used grasslands.put a lawn down for a customer and it was full of crane fly larvae.ruined the lawn has cost me alot of money.and grasslands did not wat to help out in any way.if ever i brought turf and found out it was from grasslands i would find another supplier.rubbish company that does not want to except responsibility.
