We went to Government Island to see the fall colors of the leaves in the area. It was my first time and I was surprised at how beautiful the trees are here. As you can see in the pictures, there's a nicely kept guided bridge/walkway throughout the walk. Through the walkway, you can see all that there needs to see. Towards the end, there is a massive boulder that we used for photo taking. It's pretty high so climbing up is a nice little workout. If you're afraid of heights, being at the top can be daunting. Lastly, and I'm not sure if this is part of the park, but we randomly found painted rocks in hidden places. We left them be, but if it's part of the park grounds, it's a nice treat for kids. I plan on returning when there's snow on the ground in the winter.

Great trail. Loved the view (even though it was a bit cold for us). Short 5-min walk from the parking lot. There’s a long wooded bridge perfect for taking pictures.

The history and views are both very visible and memorable here... Well maintained trail that offers fishing and walking for the entire family... You can see where the stone for Washington DC was cut out here and climb over it all in realitive safety... Old quarry site for most of the historic buildings in DC... Marshlands offer a large variety of wildlife...

Great place to go for a walk with the family! Some history to read along the walk. Path is a key shape so it's perfect for people looking for a simple walk/kids and also great for runners!

A charming trail that's beautiful to visit anytime of the year. Plenty of historic signs to read and interesting spots to found. It's a quick loop that won't take you too long to complete.
