We had lots of fun at this campsite. Very family orientated so people were very friendly and considerate. We loved the fact it is close to skate park, pump track, tennis courts and you can ride your bike everywhere to town and the many bike trails and rivers of beautiful Golden. Trains do come past but this adds to the excitement of camping and bugs too are all part of the experience. The bathrooms and showers were always kept very clean and COVID procedures were well adheered to and COVID rules well displayed. We would definitely be coming back. Well done to Michelle and Joyce running the camp ground they do an amazing job!

Golden Municipal Campground is definitely a mixed bag. Positives: > Great access to hiking / biking trails. > Everyone very respectful of quiet time. > Riverside sites have great view of river/ trains. > Super friendly staff. Not As Positive: > Sites are absolutely only as deep as measured. > No grass, mostly rocky dirt. Muddy after rain. > Incredibly loud train shunting around 3am, 33% of stay. > 1st 19 sites accessed from main road. > Watch out for little kids with road & river close. Summary: Definitely a good stopover option. Best suited to units in the 25’ range.

Beautiful setting, clean facilities, friendly staff. However, you are across the river from a rail siding and a railway line. Trains a few times a night (the westbound ones use their horn!) and the night we were there, dozens of construction trains and units moving back and forth, beeping all the while. Very annoying. If you're in a camper maybe it's not bad, but in the tent we didn't get more than a few hours' sleep the whole night. The cliff beside the track exacerbated the noise.

Nice campground, the sites closest to the river are right on the walking path into town which can be both really nice (easy access to lots of amenities and the view of the river is stunning) but also feels a little bit exposed. Spray park and really nice playground nearby, as well as many walking/hiking trails. Note that the train does run past on the other side of the river, our toddler found it fascinating! Some might find the noise disruptive, we weren't too bothered by it. Campground staff are very friendly and helpful, on our trip out we had an issue with our trailer and they were very accommodating of us which I appreciated. They are also very open to feedback on how to improve the campground and customer experience. Will return now that we know which sites will work better for us!
