What can you say to build up such an historic landmark? The only disappointment was that the observation tower was closed. Still, we roamed through woods and boulders that incredibly brave men fought in, on and around for the cause of freedom and a strong republic. It was hard to fathom as a 15 year old high school student. While I better understand their motivation today, their bravery is even more unimaginable.

The amazing story of the battle of Gettysburg should be heard by all Americans. This part of the battlefield is away from town and I believe was most significant on the last day. When you climb the tower you see why owning the heights was such an important part of the Civil War strategy. Same some time in your tour and some energy to make it up this tower. You won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic experience if you haven't been to Gettysburg...do yourself a hugh favor AND GO! history buffs you'll love this place
Wanted to climb to the top of culp's tower but unfortunately the tower was closed in need repairs. But still a great place to stop along the battle field trail.
Covid has the observations towers closed. Didn't realize it until we walked up the stairs and were slightly disappointed that there wasn't a sign to tell you it was closed. Beautiful spot regardless - great views and a less crowded spot to go to on Gettysburg.
