THIS IS A SCAM!!! Hope you see this review before you buy anything there. I was suggested to buy good tea leaves in this shop by the "friendly locals". And the shop keeper was selling me to buy their "golden tip tea". The tea leaves that they show to you are not what in the package. It is a fraud. Luckily, I took a photo of this shop before I go, so everyone else can know now. Don't trust them!

VERY FRESH SPICES IN SRILANKA
Was recommended this place by a local. 100g of spices used for fish or dhal curry goes for Rs 350. They let you try the different spices, and it's quite insightful. They also have a whole range of teas, especially fruit tea.
Well organized scam - If a random guy starts friendly talking to you in Galle and offers to show you some good spice shop - be sure it's a scam. The guy gets a kickback. It's not one specific guy who takes you there, there are dozens and dozens of them - starting with a 'fisherman' or total random 'passerby'. The place is really overpriced, low quality spice, hard selling. Made me think that the majority of Sri Lankan population is cheating. Hate this feeling but can't help myself.
If you ever visiting Sri Lanka you should definitely visit this place.you can find a huge selection of spices,herbs and their natural aroma and souvenirs for a very good price. their price on saffron is the best I've ever found & they also have different kinds of tea. Their prices are reasonable,so it can be a good visit if you are trying to keep to a budget.it is fun.
We got led there by a "friendly restaurant owner who wanted to buy fish for his restaurant and by accident the local market was very close to the fish Markt" he told us not to buy overpriced staff in the fort. He seemed very friendly and honest and his English was also very good. Due to elections the marked was closed. There were several steps where we had to notice the scam but we didn't, even tho we had been to a lot. Of countries like this. The guy talked about cooking saffron, so we ended by accident in a spice market buy the local market. I guess all the spices were highly overpriced and after reconsideration the store looked way to made for tourists. He told us saffron is 100/g and the box he showed us was 19g so it's 1900. We still bought it. 20 min later I realized that it is impossible that this box contains 19 gramm so I went back to ask the owner. Of course he already left the store so I talked to his Assistent, he put the box on the scale which showed 18 gramm including the plastic box. They told me that this is normal and due to their lack of English skills discussion was not possible. All. In all huge scam in my opinion and after reading about saffron in the internet I think it's fake 99%. On our way back to our hotel we got asked two more times to go to the local market to avoid the overpriced fort prices. Rip off method to share the tourists money with the people living outside the fort.
(Curry powders) Those are organic spices and you can keep long Duration. Supermarket Have spices but those are not similer as this this quality bit Expensive always Because there contain items are expensive stuff in sri lanka..Cardamon/ anis/ cloves and etc.. you see the prices of those separate you can Image how is the price become.. other Have locals some cheaper but there never Have like this Ingredients ever.. lots of people say Expensive but you Have to think Heartiestly why it be Expensive.. when we Have to eat and say about curry powders.. others reason is SAFFRON not growing sri lanka. any one know as well.. CURRY POWDERS highly recommended quality..
