This is a great place where I buy breakfast once a week for my wife ... really good stuff. Finally we found bread which taste like in our home country - Czech republic!
I have been a big fan of Gail's for a long time. However, my last visit with my vegan partner has showed how behind the times Gail's are. While in nearby Crystal Palace there are two vegan cafes, out of the 20 pastry/cake offerings available in Gail's Dulwich, the only vegan option is a nice-tasting rabbit dropping (see photo). The lady behind the counter confirmed this is the only vegan thing they do. Their labelling is sparse and with such small font that if you don't ask you will never find it. In a time when Pret's has launched it most successful product (a vegan wrap) to become a top 5 best seller during launch week in their history, and Greggs is still basking in the glory of their vegan sausage roll, it feels that Gail's have to up their act and provide more vegan options with clear labelling.
I became a regular during lockdown. Going for a walk & having a takeaway coffee from the Gail. Spacious place and cautious staff.
