Good experience and great views over Funchal. 11 euros to go up or 16 euros return . The option of toboggan on way down then bus or taxi .

Good option to see the whole of the city. Return and one way options available. Seem to have missed a trick by not doing it at night as the last car down is at 16:45

It is very convenient situated, near the beach. Amazing sea view and mountains view from this place. And a beautiful panorama of the whole city. There is a municipal free park on the top of the mountain and a botanic garden (paid). A beautiful old church and hotel here. Several cafes and restaurants (a little bit expensive). Also there is another cable car to next location (for additional pay), You can buy one-way or two-way tickets. And the final bus stop is also here (much chipper then cable).

What a great way to view the city of Funchal especially if you have a sunny day. The ride in the cable car takes about 20 minutes to get to the top and you enjoy spectacular views of the city, countryside, harbour and if course the sea. The ride is very smooth and the windows were clean enough to take photos through. It is not that expensive at just over 20 euros for a return journey. If you are on holiday here I would recommend a trip in the cable car.

Very interesting ride, personally I didn’t find it the most beautiful landscape view but what I did find very interesting was looking at how the people of Funchal have built their city on steep hills and cliffs. Fascinating to look at how the house are built right on the edge, I spent most of the cable car ride looking down!

It was o.k.. this time we were luckier, the waiting lines were quite short with 10 minutes. The cable car booth itself has a heating but no air-conditioning ;-) which makes sense in Austria but here on Madeira ..... Well, if you want to see Monte I recommend to go with your own car or by bus as price is quite high with 16 EUR return ticket per person. The ride itself is interesting but not breath taking.
