After an long and exhausting walk to the top of the mountain we were greeted by a refreshing closed sign. Thanks for not mentioning it anywhere.
Ring the bell and experience a fascinating hidden piece of Madeira history. 2 EURO entrance fee for a guided tour in English or French.
Ring the bell and the door opens.. for a little fee you can access and your tour will be guided. The lady is enthousiastic and telling about the history of the buildings. It's not only for nuns, but it's an internate as well. So they have a little playground for kids Some spots are dark, garden is beautiful!
Beautiful and ancient place. We had a very passionated and so friendly guide. She (the nun) explained everything even in three or more languages with a lovely smile. A quick tour which is definitely worth to see if you visit Madeira. You get an impression how the nun lived and still live.
A charming guide gave us an excellent and informative view of these beautiful buildings. Well worth visiting.
Interesting view of life long ago. Very short tour, maybe 15-20 minutes. Just 2 euro entry fee. Closes at 12:00 for lunch.
Closed for renovations. Good museums nearby if you climb the hill though.
