Our sincere thanks to Poul and Niall for an incredible week of fabulous food and great cooking experiences in a wonderful homely atmosphere. As a family of keen cooks and diners not only did we learn how to put together some amazing menus, balance flavours, new cooking techniques and efficient use of many varied ingredients but most importantly had lots of fun in a relaxed environment. Paul is a fountain of knowledge and has an amazing and practical approach to cooking in which food and flavours are celebrated and enjoyed with the greatest of ease. We would highly recommend and endorse the French Dining School to anyone who shares a passion for cooking and fine food. Mark Lorraine, Courtney and Jordan

I stayed with Poul and Niall at their beautiful home and attended the cook school over the New Year. I had a great time, learnt so much but in such a relaxed atmosphere with such great hosts. I hired a car and took the opportunity to visit lovely places in the afternoons recommended by them. The food, wine and company made it a brilliant way to spend a New Year break. I can't recommend the place highly enough, the location would be great in the summer time too...

Poul and Niall are brilliant hosts and went far above and beyond to welcome us into their home and the village. The cooking course was really personal with a very small class size, so we were able to get involved with preparing and cooking all the dishes and we learnt so much. It really surpassed all my expectations.

I am an amateur culinary enthusiast and finally decided to take a more formal culinary course to hone my skills. I also wanted to get some advice from a real chef, so this was my first foray into the world of culinary institutions and I wasn't really sure what to expect. I couldn't be more pleased with my decision with Poul's French Dining School in Brittany. First off, Poul is an extremely good chef, amazing teacher and is filled with a wealth of knowledge of all things food and the restaurant business in general. Second, Poul and Niall are the most generous hosts and genuine people I have ever met. Conversation was never dull and my drink was never dry. Lastly, I would be hard pressed to find a more gorgeous home and kitchen. It has all the feel and authenticity you would expect from a 15th century home in the Bretagne countryside, yet with all the amenities of the 21st century. Whether you are a novice or experienced chef you will learn something here and have an amazing experience in the process, I can guarantee it. I'll certainly be coming back for more. I just returned from the most amazing week spent in the French Dining School in Kerrout with Poul, a brilliant Chef, whose love of cooking inspired us, his students to try our best to master the skills he so brilliantly illustrates and also, Niall who kept all things running smoothly with his wit and easy manner. The ambience of Kerrout is so peaceful and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed help prepare, cook and off course eat this wonderful food with delicious wines to accompany chosen by Poul, our Michelan Chef. We toured the beautiful countryside on our daily hours off and had a wonderful week. Thank you Poul & Niall

I cannot reccomend Kerrouet Culinary School more. Under Chef Poul even the most experienced of our small group of 6 learned the cooking skills and tricks of a Michelan standard. As for those less experienced, myself included, I've emerged from the school a more confident and skilled chef, fully capable of making authentic French cuisine. More than this, enjoying all the fantastic food we made during our time in Kerrouet would not be nearly as easy without the carefree and effortless hosting of Poul and Niall, who taught us the art of hosting by example. We enjoyed our meals, aperitifs, digestifs, snacks, and afternoon teas/coffees all the more because of the company and the friendliness of our knowledgable hosts in their stunny and cosy home. Finally, a word on the location of Kerrouet. While the village is somewhat remote, it provides an excellent base for those keen to explore the surrounding medieval towns of Brittany, and we enjoyed walking the beautiful countryside on our free afternoons. The tranquility and peacefulness of Kerroeut provided the perfect place to learn the local cuisine, with all the delicious locally-sourced ingredients used to make the dishes. For those looking for a relaxed and yet genuine French cooking course, look no further than Kerrouet! The hospitality of Poul and Niall is matched only by the quality of the food you will produce during your time here.
