The Mill section is very cool... Elevated walkway for easy access.... Beautiful spot where a creek meets the Monocacy river. Check out the section across the road by the cornfield... Nice quiet place to hike.

GPS takes you to the first stop, point 1 on the tour, Best Farm. The grounds were well tended, which made for easy exploration. The visitor center is closed, due to covid-19. The website provides downloadable audio. Signage, to direct to the other points on the walking tour would be helpful. The only sign we saw clearly posted, was to avoid the train track. We were concerned about trespassing while exploring other areas, due to lack of signs. The Union was able to hold the Confederates at a key battle here, allowing time for the Union army to put troops in place to protect Washington DC. Many lives were lost, on both sides, and it's humbling to stand on the ground where such sacrifice was made.
Pretty scenery. Is well laid out with multiple stops and walking trails at each stop. Not crowded. Trails are not strenuous.
Great hiking trails. Plus, if you are not careful, you might learn something!
Live tours closed, but at least they have audio on their website for a car tour. Oldest kids (9 and 11) enjoyed the history. Canons were a hit. Had lunch at the picnic tables near visitor center. No trash cans so bring a bag.
