This is a very cozy stay with an excellent restaurant. Our room was across the street from the main house. We were given luxury soaps and lotions. The rooms were newly renovated with nice finishes. At the restaurant we ate the 10 course tasting menu. The service was excellent, the waitresses walked us through each item. The best dessert I've ever had was at this place. So stay here and make room for a good meal.

Store Kroen is a stately inn sitting just down the road from Fredensborg palace. With its old-world charm, fancy bar and restaurant, and the short walk to the castle gardens, it projects a pleasant, cozy, and distinguished atmosphere. I've stayed here twice now and had access to three rooms. The rooms are very nice and furnished with the standard luxuries. Some rooms have access to a shared terrace overlooking the hotel's courtyards while others (such as those rooms facing the road) do not. One negative about the rooms is the bathroom's shower design. Although it's equipped with a nice hand-shower/rain shower head combo, the shower area is so narrow that you will inevitably end up with the curtain sticking to you. Furthermore this arrangement results in half of the bathroom being flooded by the end of your shower. I've not been fortunate enough to try the restaurant, but I had breakfast at the inn during both my stays. Under normal circumstances it consists of a nice buffet of typical Danish breakfast fare. However when there are not many guests, the kitchen arranges a plentiful plate of food for the guest. It should be noted that breakfast is not included in the price of the room and must be arranged ahead of time. In traveling to the Store Kro, it's a short, 10-minute walk from the train station. If driving, there is a good sized parking lot at the hotel. All in all, I highly recommend the Store Kro for a relaxing and nice stay in Fredensborg.

Very good place. Some of the rooms can be small but they are all nice and clean. The food in the restaurant is very good and nicely served. The breakfast buffé could have some more options.
