I would say 93% of the volunteers are attentive and able to follow the story you tell them; however there are a few rotten apples who don't have the patience, grace or intelligence to maneuver the conversation when it doesn't go anywhere instead opting to say demoralizing words, hang up and traumatize the caller instead. I would ask that this individual (female) be fired and banned from working as a crisis line volunteer again as she does more harm than good and I leave every time after talking with her feeling absolutely destroyed.

i just called the crisis line because I have a huge dilemma. I knew she couldn't advise me what to do and she stated that several times. So, I asked if she could suggest ways that I, or anyone, could make a decision on really big dilemma's. She said she couldn't advise me on that either. (what??!!!) so I asked what education she had and she said she was not there to talk about herself. so I asked if she was quailed and she said yes. I said thank you anyway and hung up. I still don't know how to go about resolving my dilemma. not the decision but the important steps to reaching my dilemma which every crisis counsellor should know.
Garbage. Completely unhelpful. You tell them your problems 4 times and they still ask what you are calling for. Now imagine ordering your big mac and the burger flipper asks if you have the buns and lettuce ready for him
