After a trip to Alton towers we (a group of 6) decided last minute to find somewhere to eat on the way home. We found The fox and goose online and gave them a ring to make sure they had a table for us. We told them we might not get there until half 7 and they informed us the kitchen closed at 7, but did everything they could to get us in. We arrived around 10 to 7 and the staff were so lovely, attentive and helpful, despite us keeping the kitchen open. We ordered our food and it’s obviously all freshly cooked. There is a wide variety of pub staples on the menu and as it was Sunday, there was also a roast available. I ordered the bacon and Stilton burger. I don’t say this lightly, it was the best burger I’ve had in a long long time and I can’t remember enjoying a burger more. The ingredients were obviously quality and it really showed, it was delicious. Everyone Thoroughly enjoyed their food and the prices were really reasonable for the quality. It’s also worth noting that the location was really pretty, perched on top of a hill with excellent views from the dining room. Overall I couldn’t rate this place any higher, really friendly, great service and amazing food. I will definitely be making the hour and a half trip again to eat here.

Had a wonderful meal here. Staff was exceptionally friendly and lovely and for was locally sourced and very good, especially for that price! Will definitely come again!
Arrived in Foxt on the Saturday so had not booked, but called in on the off chance for a Sunday Lunch. Friendly staff found us a table and we were able to enjoy a delicious sunday roast and a couple of pints of real ale. A lovely start to our holiday

Made to feel very welcome, the social distancing was spot on. Superb food and excellent value for money. Highly recommended...wish this was my local!
