Great view with no one around in the winter.

Excellent views of the Liard River. Ferry was really mellow but apparently it was closed for a day in 2018 because of heavy water from the record rainfall in June.
Best crew in the north , the M.V. Lafferty is the pride of the fleet
The main issue are the landings. The angle of the ferry ramp is simply poor. Dirt ramp down then ramp angled up. Any vehicle of length will drag it's rear end. Our RV suffered damage.
Freedom is what the Ferry means to me.
Decent ferry, short wait times and fairly quick.
I met the captain of the Lafferty even though the ice bridge was still 'in place' while I was there. Terrific smile and attitude. The pictures posted are of the Lafferty about 2 weeks before she could sail this year and of crossing on the ice road. Pine trees are used to mark the edge of the ice road, when our group crossed there was quite a bit of water on top of the road so it felt like crossing in our own little river inside the river. There was also lots of sailor's rope around, some of it right in the middle of the ice road. A neat place to visit any time of year.
