This place is fantastic. My friend said these were the best Grits she has ever had! I would definitely recommend and definitely come back. The biscuits are AMAZING and the Steak and Eggs were great as well!!

This place tops the list in Austin. Reserved an early seat. Options are inside, outside, or counter. I started with a couple of local happy hour beers (5:00-6:30). They did not dissapoint. I then ordered a couple of happy hour items; the Gruyere and Black Pepper Popovers, which is on the regular appetizer menu as well. It is a popular starter. Also I had the onion rings with a butter milk dip. These were so good. I love onions and onion rings and these were the best I've ever had. The onions were delicious and the batter gave them the the perfect amount of clean, crunchy texture. By the time they were dipped, they were as good as gone. For dinner I choose the fish of the day; the monkfish. This wasn't a difficult choice since they were being filetted right in front of me. The fish was served with English peas, potatoes, and vadouvan curry. The sear on this fish was perfect giving it an excellent texture. And lastly, I finished it all off with some coffee and fenugreek ice cream. What a meal! The service was attentive, personal, and professional. Covid protocols were in place with plastic screens and distanced seating. The prices were reasonable and the happy hour items were tasty. Will I be back? That's a big yes.

Food was unique yet familiar with interesting takes on dishes. With the happy hour menu the prices wasn't too bad. Highly recommended and don't skip the desserts. The mushroom creme brulee was amazing.

Had a reservation for counter service. Made that reservation 2 weeks in advance. That does not seem to matter to them. They gave it away. So don’t bother making a reservation. There is also no parking. And no valet. The food is really mediocre. Almost no spice. Flavors are 1 dimensional. I would skip this one and go to odd duck where the food is great, parking is easy, and reservations matter. Skip this place. You will be glad you did.

I have dined at Foreign & Domestic several times, and went back this evening to enjoy a lovely meal. Over the course of our dinner, my fiancee and I discussed that while we have never had a bad experience, we have also never had a subpar experience - every time we have dined here the staff at F&D has delivered in spades. The servers are extremely friendly with a deep knowledge of a highly variable and ever-changing menu. The food itself is delightful, and also introduces some great variability into New American cuisine. Each dish is bold, different, and delicious. Finally, the pricing is almost excessively reasonable, especially during happy hour. At a few of the high dollar, list-making establishments in Austin, I can't help feeling a bit underwhelmed walking out; in contrast, each time I've eaten at F&D I've felt like I'm getting a steal for the quality of the food and service they provide. TL ; DR one of the best restaurants in the city. Eat here.
