Lovely roast beef and pork. Meat was tasty but could have been cooked a little longer si that it was more of a melt in the mouth. More roast spuds or small boiled pots please and less of the boiled large spuds. It was good not fabulous.

I loved the food. Looks like any normal pub but menu totally unexpected. More fish pie and seafood chowder than sausage and chips. Good quality and filling.

Lovely place. Very welcoming. Although it was table service only the service was outstanding. Staff very pleasant. Unfortunately didn't serve food till after 4pm. Other than that highly recommended.

Booked a table for five adults.I want to give a fair and honest critique as I hope this will encourage improvements. We are all Filey residents and love to support our local facilities so we took a punt on a Sunday roast at the Star.We were all greeted warmly and asked if we would like beverages beforehand.Due to social distancing the drinks were all brought out by a member of staff. We all ordered food, given a choice of meats, veg and meal size and kindly told when we could move inside nearer to service. The layout due to covid was well marked and notified and is testament to the attentiveness of the owners and staff. We all sat on a slightly wobbly table which we fixed with a stack of beer mats before service.Food waiting time was minimal and it all came together within a minute of each other.I personally had ordered a medium roast beef, which is where the experience started to wain somewhat. The thing I always get asked, having been a chef for 25 years is \do you complain if the food or service is not up to standard? \ Well it's a difficult one sometimes.I largely try to avoid making a scene and turning into Gordon Ramsay and will enjoy it for what it is and move on to another experience. That being said It cannot go untold my roast beef dinner was a poor showing. One slither of beef does not constitute a medium roast dinner. The gravy was a maggie special, with zero meat stocks or a hint of a roasted and de glazed pan.The veg selection was adequate, but the portion size was more attuned to that of a child. The food really needs to pick in portion control and quality.Such a shame as we all love the star,it's staff and the beer (let's not forget the beer).Overall it was nice just to see family and celebrate a birthday and the star's atmosphere paid a big part in our enjoyment.A big up and final word for Ruby, who was predominantly our host for the afternoon.Attentive, gracious, hard working and a asset to the Star.

Was really good to see a local establishment giving young local people the opportunity to work around education. The food was tasty and was delivered promptly, staff were friendly and polite.
