I've stayed at the chalet four times during the last 15 or so years, and have enjoyed it every time. There is no electricity or running water in the rooms but they are actually quite comfortable. The chalet is a wilderness hike-in lodge so basic necessities are met with few extras; this should be expected of a lodge miles from any paved roads. It is not advertised as anything else other than a step up from backpacking. The food is quite good and there are always interesting people to talk to at meals. The outhouse is quite luxurious with a beautiful view. It is a fun place to stay, and there are fantastic hikes in the area. I've heard that the park service has not renewed the lease to the present operator. I hope the chalet is not turned into another \cash-cow\ for the park service but keeps its original character.

Accommodations and food are dated. Everything needs updating, beds, bedding, lounge, dishes, menu etc. Hiking is fabulous but pass on staying at the chalet.
Amazing place for a backpacking trip (or a hike). Laughing falls is a quick hike away, with Twin falls being further along. Amazing views and very quiet trail in August
Really nice treat to see such an awesome building at the end of a long hike. Not operating when we were there but still nice to see nonetheless.
