d like to share how much i enjoy Is-Haq being a part of Fawkner scouts because of the confidence I’ve noticed in him lately. Is-Haq came home from a 3 day camp so happy. He cant stop talking about his experiences. His Leaders are helping him develop life skills through actual life experiences, respect, discipline and most importantly, fun. He came home with both pointer fingers bandaged... he was encouraged to prepare a lunch for all scouts and to clean his own dishes! (Proud mum moment). He was asked to put up and bring down a tent... assist with making damper for supper and asked to help the younger cub scouts in the group if needed. He aced a boot camp style obstacle course and swam in the yarra river. He helped start the camp fire after fetching twigs. He was taught how to purify dirty water to make it consumable. I was so excited to see the photos and videos of him during his time away from home. He adapted well to my surprise as Is-Haq’s main hobby and interest is Football. “Next week they will teach me how to use a Melway”, says Is-Haq with excitement hmmmm, this is good. Is-Haq is 10 years old and is a cub scout, soon he will progress to a scout where the tasks become even more challenging yet eagerly anticipated not just by my son but me as well. If you think this is the kind of environment you want your children in then 1 word for you...scouts! Thanks to all whom contributed in making this camp a memorable one, JAK
