Had a very nice meal and luckily before pub was closed again for Tier 3 restrictions. We had lamb kebabs and cheesy skins for starters and braised beef and steak and Ale pie for mains. All were very tasty. The real ale from the owners brewery was also good.

We had a few drinks for an hour or so and sat outside where they have 7 or 8 benches. They take orders for food in the evenings at 6pm. It was pie night on Thursday we were there and they were exceptional. My wife had cheese and onion and I had steak. They were slices of a large pie rather than a dry small individual pie, lots of nicely cooked seasonal veg and chips with gravy! All reasonably priced and they even sold fly repellent which saved my night when we had to leave to go back to the campsite
Sat outside and had veggie curry which was nice. Waited about 40mins for food but they were busy and we were told There would be a bit of a wait so didn’t mind. I have to stay that I agree with other comments on here about the landlord’s attitude. He wasn’t very friendly and almost seemed annoyed that he had customers! Bar staff nice and friendly though :)
We absolutely love this pub! A hidden gem!We stay at a lovely cottage owned by Stuart and Doris (The Smith) and we visit this pub most nights for a drink by the fire. The landlord Chris is so welcoming and even gets our drinks on as soon as we walk through the door. All the food that is produced from the kitchen is absolutely amazing and the beer is fantastic. Thank you for your hospitality, we look forward to seeing you again on our next trip! Rob & Helen
Excellent service. Food in less than 30 minutes at peak times. Definitely a hikers pub.
