I love Ethiopian food and have visited all Ethiopian restaurants in Frankfurt am Main by now (and there are many of them!). Erta Ale is probably in my top 3. The owner is welcoming, the food is amazing, pricing is reasonable. The only thing to improve is probably the service (to be precise waitresses’ communication with customers) who sometimes get lost in translation. Overall highly recommended, we will surely be returning.

As a native Ethiopian, I found this restaurant as an ideal place to feel home. The food is not only delicious and fresh, but also tastes exactly like Ethiopian traditional food. The service is friendly. I recommend to anyone.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Erta ale probeplatte was very delicious. Ethiopian honey wine was great. Good experience having the coffee there. Ethiopian beer just ok.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. The food was really tasty and the injera was plenty. It was fun to eat with your hands and get your fingers dirty. I liked that they didn't even offer cutlery. Update: I was disappointed by the mixed vegetarian plate because there were very little vegetables on it.
Was always a huge fan of Ethiopian food since living in DC for several years, and this place really hits the spot! Recommend the sample platter (this one is for two). It’s very good and filling. The service is friendly and quick. The inside is nicely decorated and nice bathrooms. All around a nice experience!
