Good for kids
No wheelchair-accessible entrance
Interesting and generally accessible. Access is from a tarred car park from which you can see the castle, through a gate and up the hill. There is a curved, gently sloping pathway for those of less abilities and once at the castle, there are a few places you can rest. Internally there are a few descriptive plaques and the majority of the building can be accessed reasonably easily. Overall a great place to take the kids for a while where they can have fun and learn at the same time and it is interesting for adults too, not least because of the views from uppon the knoll that it is built on. My only criticism is the lack of seating on the path and internally. For such a castle which has the capacity to attract large numbers of visitors, a little more consideration would not go amiss.

Really enjoyed Duffus Castle - is well maintained and a beautiful spot to walk around. Has some info on the castles history and free parking. Spent around 25mins having a look around. Would recommend!!
It was very quiet when I was there which was great, (its usually busy with people accompanied by noisey kids dropping liter everywhere )
It was nice, we stopped here on the way to Inverness. Free parking available. Spent about 10 minutes walking about. There is a wee sign explaining a bit about the history but as with every castle, I pretty much forget everything about it as soon as I left.
We were fortunate to visit on a glorious afternoon. Ample car pack with a short walk but the castle is a short walk (not wheelchair accessible). Information plates and boards around the castle are great for kids and adults alike. Probably a slow walk around in half an hour or so but definitely worth a visit, great that it's free but could probably do with a day warden. Recommend visiting the castle after Elgin cathedral, then take the back road to Lossiemouth to the great beaches (and ice cream).
