Our favorite place to go for Mexican. The atmosphere is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is always good. There are always new things to try as they always have a ton of specials that change all the time and their regular menu is very good as well. This last visit I had the breaded lamb chops in mushroom sauce and it was excellent. We have a 5 year old daughter and they always treat her fantastic. I definitely recommend this place for a great meal in Downtown Freehold!

Interesting place. Both indoor and outdoor seating. If you sit outside you can hear a live band. The food had the standard choices as per the cuisine. Parking is behind the place but can be hard to find on busy nights but that is probably true for all restaurants on freehold main Street
The food is decent, but I don’t like places that like to nickel and dime you. We asked for water and they automatically give you a bottle of water, which costs 1.50 per bottle. They should give you the option of bottle or tap water. Also, they used to give free unlimited chips. Now they charge after the first round. I’m not a fan of restaurants who charge you for pretty much everything. I’m surprised they didn’t charge me to use their bathroom
We love the food and drive to get there about half an hour. Worth the drive. Everything is pretty good but I highly recommend the enchiladas. The sauces for the enchiladas are outstanding. I'd buy them by the jar if I could
Real and hearty meal for hungry vegetarians! We had the Vegetarian Platter (burrito and quesadilla) and Nachos appetizer. Waiter suggested we substitute the black beans for the refried beans because the refried pinto beans have pork... good catch... thank you! For vegetarians, the vegetables are not chopped into as small pieces and cooked down as tender compared to some restaurants. I was happy to see a number of vegetarian options. Wait staff was great. We ate, talked, enjoyed the food, enjoyed the whole experience. El Meson has been in that location for as long as I can remember, and for good reason. You can count on them every time for a solid meal and an enjoyable experience.
