Went here with a party of four for lunch. Food was good and plentiful. Service was excellent. We also enjoyed the atmosphere. Prices were reasonable. I personally prefer Meso Maya, located next door.

Really nice restaurant. Parking is convenient and free for the first 2 hours as long as you eat at El Fenix. Friendly staff. They won't seat you unless your whole party is there though, so be aware of this if you're meeting people there. Clean restrooms, available sanitizer, and staff sanitize pretty well. Food is pretty good. The Mexican Cobb salad is really delicious and a really hefty portion. My favorite is the chicken tortilla soup but ask for rice on the side. If you don't, they put the rice in it and it ends up soaking up all the broth. Overall, pretty decent. I recommend going on a week night since there's hardly a crowd nor wait time for a table.

I had originally given this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars based on a good dining experience. The staff makes you feel very welcome and are always attentive. But then I ordered some catering for a large crowd and the driver Carlos Alvarez not only brought the order on time, he also helped set up the food station and even helped heat up the tortillas on the stove so that we could serve the food faster. The whole time he did it with a sweet disposition. I cannot say enough about how thankful and impressed we were with this level of service. The food was also tasty and we got many compliments from our guests. El Fenix are consummate professionals through and through. It's no wonder they have been in business for 100 years

Nice enchiladas and the chicken was delicious. But, if you have acid reflex like me. I suggest taking some acid reducer before eating there. (If you are looking for some hot sauce with some heat. I do not suggest their hot sauce.)

Awesome chips and sauce. Cool old restraunt in downtown Dallas. Staff was great. Loved the covid safety all staff up held. Only reason they did not get a 5 is because the food is good but to get a 5 is I believe the food must be great. In texas, its hard to stand out as a tex mex restraunt. This restraunt is a must try in dallas due to its long history and location. We will be back. Brought a bag of chips to go and the chips were very fresh when I opened bag 4 days later.
