Bad service. Over paid, under paid, not paid on time, told wrong information. No trust in this company. Pray you don’t have to use them for short term disability. I went back to work early because of this company’s complete lack of care and my lack of trust in them.

I applied for a accelerated death benefit for my spouse. Initially, UNUM made no contact (no \we received your claim letter\ or anything). I called twice to check on the status of my claim and the UNUM representatives would say they could not say anything too me without the claim number, but I asked them how was I supposed to know the claim number if UNUM had not sent me anything. It was over a month before that finally got sorted out; a glitch on their end. I send all my spouse's medical records in with the claim. We got paid the guaranteed portion of the claim over two months after the claim was made and the remaining portion two weeks later. Satisfied with the outcome.
