We wanted an equity release mortgage. Unlike normal mortgages, there is a host of variations and each company seems to want you consult their own sales person. So I sought an Equity Release Council approved independent advisor to guide us through the deals available on the market. I thought this would be a lot easier than ploughing through the minutiae of each product, and having to put up with pushy salespeople. Many of the independent advisors want a hefty fee for their services. However, Alan Dickson of Eden Mortgages charged a very reasonable fee. He listened and questioned us on our requirements, never at any stage did he push us, but instead he found the best product for what we wanted. He even recommended a solicitor who also charged a very reasonable fee. I cannot praise Alan highly enough. If you are thinking about equity release and need proper, ethical advice I would recommend Eden Mortgages.
