This place is definitely a hole in the wall but don't let that Stop you from trying this place out. I got the fish which was Whiting . It was made to order so it was hot and fresh while I was eating it. I also got the red rice which was pretty good too.

The baked chicken was tender and delicious. I also had the BBQ ribs which were better than grandma's. I will definitely go back when I'm back in Charleston.
If you want health food this is not your place. If you want delicious fried food, this is your place. My kids love this place and we have been here many times. i recommend for authentic southern food.
Crunchy, savory, and the meat was cooked just right! The man working there was friendly and funny too. Perfect little joint to get your fix.
After reading all the great reviews on the East side soul food we headed over. First of all there were no cars in the parking lot. And there was NO smell of cooking food inside the place. I had called prior to going and he recited a wonderful menu. Needless to say we did not shop. Didn't want to take a chance.
