Nothing but exceptional Sunday lunch! Surprisingly fine food and super friendly service, with stunning river views. Someone in that kitchen is both very creative and an excellent chef. Highly recommended Sunday lunch 3-course menu. The Arancini starter was an experience in itself!

Had the chicken Sunday lunch from here and it was absolutely gorgeous! Every single thing was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire pudding was huge and there was a good variety of veggies. Could have done with more mash as there was only a small spoonful but that’s because it was so tasty. Devoured every scrap- was the perfect hangover cure. Although it is a bit pricey on just eat as you have to spend 20 or more to get it delivered 3 for the delivery itself (the dinner is 9.95) so you will have to chose a few other things but they also sell essentials such as bread, eggs, milk etc which I think is a excellent idea, plus afternoon tea, frozen meals, salads, desserts. I got the homemade lemon curd which is also very delicious. I will definitely order from here again and would very much recommend.
Started with the sea bass which was really tasty and full of flavour. For main it was salmon and the venison Wellington. Again the food was excellent. The place had a nice relaxed feel, though great care was taked with social distancing and bio-security. Will definitely be back when we next visit Durham
I can honestly not stress how much me and my husband love coming here! We love it so much we got married there in 2018. The staff are amazing and so accommodating. Nothing is ever an issue, they make you feel really special. Rachel the manager always recognizes us and makes the effort to say hello. The food is absolutely perfect, I have never been disappointed and have always gone for the full 3 courses. The lunch time menu is amazing especially for the price. But the evening menu is unbelievable! There's always something new to try. I recommend them to all my friends family and anyone that would listen. I also love love love their wine!! You must try it it's incredible. I wish I had been able to get it this time but was very heavily pregnant. However my amazing husband has promised to take me back in the next few weeks.
We ate here with two friends. I am very covid aware and was delighted with the strict sanitizing and distancing measures in place in the restaurant. We had to scan a menu, all the staff had PPE and we had plenty of space around us in a roomy area. Despite covid, the restaurant has maintained a relaxed, happy and good humoured ambience. The food was lovely and couldn't fault the wine...nicely chilled too.
