A beautiful and interesting priory. There's a little shop and picnic areas. You can cross the bridge and walk along the river bank. Very pleasant. Nice photography opportunitys.

A really nice trip out. Well kept grounds, clean and family friendly with a little shop serving hot food, drinks and ice cream etc. Dog friendly too and plenty of parking or you can choose to park on the top road and walk down though the woods and over the bridge. Wasn't too busy, that could be down to Covid as I can imagine the place would generate a lot of visitors normally.
Iv only been once full day out. Absolutely loved it. We parked at the layby then walked down to the river. Path is in good condition, plenty of places to rest.
Great family day out Good for young families Dogs also allowed in the premises Nice River walk 3 parking but you can park in the layby on the road for free and walk down from cocken wood but it's not suitable for for buggies/wheelchairs. Woods lead down to the river and abbey and can get very muddy On site cafe offers take aways
I have known this area since the 50s when I used to live here and still visit the local farm on a regular basis. If you want peace and tranquillity a day beside the Abby sitting on a chair watching the river wear running by is just the place to go
