Today I had the most disheartening experience with the local YMCA here in Dubuque, IA. To start I must say that at the beginning of the whole CoVid 19 pandemic I never received any communication from the Y and in fairness this was due to a transposition of letters during data entry of my email address. I didn't get mad I just continued to pay my monthly bill knowing that I was helping a valuable resource to the community make it through a rough time. When I finally made contact with the Y after some of the Governor's mandates were lifted I found out about the error in my email address. It was no big deal and for the next few months I continued to pay monthly even though I only used the facility a few times. So comes today. I am moving into a new place and as we all know moving is an expensive task. I was trying to free up a few bucks over the next few months and because I do not start using the Y heavily until Mid October I thought I would pause my YMCA membership for a couple months. So I called to do this and was told I was required to give a 15 day notice so I would be charged for August Membership. I get it; it's legal. They snuck it on the fine print. Fool me once.......and I seek business elsewhere. I like the Y and want to support it but their true colors showed today. When I needed something they were only worried about their bottom line. Update: The Dubuque Community YMCA was responsive and has since corrected this issue. I appreciate their willingness to hear my concerns and to help me during the last two months. I will be continuing my membership with them.

Least friendly front desk staff ever. Old out dated and dirty. Will never go back and don't recommend anyone else goes here either. The need to clean house literally and phigrativly.
