I love getting my fish from Sam. It is always fresh. Sam's homemade fish cakes are fab. They have lots of fish in them and they are chunky not mushy. They have the best prawns I have ever tasted. Sometimes I can't wait till I get home to eat them. They are that nice! As well as the shop in Widnes market they now have one at Hesketh Hall. You can always get ideas for how to cook the fish you buy. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Love this shop, both in Widnes market and at Heskin Hall. Best dressed crab, just need a spoon, so tasty, yum, great salmon, yellow fish, kippers, cod, hake and trout I have had since buying off boats in Cornwall. So fresh and great cooking advice if needed. Friendly service, great offers. Can't ask for more.

So I started this review yesterday but needed you all to know how amazing D&S Fisheries are. I truly am one of those people who supports local small businesses and the reasons being... 1. The service I receive from Sam and her Dad. No task is too much, skinning and de-boning the fish. Offering different size portions/ cuts to suit, even if this means another fish is cut in to. Recipe ideas or the best way to cook your fish and seafood. All of the options to your ability. The friendliness of both. I no longer feel just like a customer, I feel like I have friends who I buy fish from. 2. The quality, price and availability of seafood. So from my mum's favourites of sweet and juicy brown shrimp to ours of mussels and scallops. Whether you fancy a giant King Scallop or a bunch of succulent sweet queenies; all the seafood is super fresh and amazingly priced. Next time you visit your local supermarket, walk passed the fish counter and take a smell... Do you smell a stinky fish smell? That's because their fish has been in cold storage for easily a week. Sam and her Dad go to the harbour every day so you know you are getting fish at it's freshest. You also know all their products are sustainably sourced. You also know the product is in season. For me buying fish from a friend, who I know is selling me quality, sustainable, fresh and at a great price it's a no brainer. Most Saturday's now I create a new dish with different ingredients. Why spend money on take out when you can have a wonderful fish dish?
