Used to be the best chips in York, not anymore. Ordered their large box today, was only half full and most of the chips were soggy. Asked for scraps and hardly got any. Price has also gone up to 3 which is a joke. You used to get more chips when their large box was about 2 which was only 2-3 years ago. Customers will only come back if they get a generous portion of chips.

Well.. it goes without saying that all of the food is of the highest quality, but exploring the myth of the illusive battered mars bar in the heart of york is what drove me to navigate the twists and turns of the shambles.. until i found an unexpected treasure. With a pleasant smile i was greeted by the kindest of women who not only supplied me with my long awaited battered mars bar, but told be about a unknown delicacy .. A BATTERED CREAM EGG !. Yes my friend.. your ear's do not deceive you. While your mind explores the unknown corners of the universe, trying to fathom what experiecnce your taste pallet is waiting for.. let me give you the closest comparison that my mind can gather together. A freshly cooked (hot) chocolate krispykream doughnut !.. Will be back for another one !
This fish and chip takeaway and restaurant was the first eaterie I visited on returning to live in York a couple of months ago. I've been back several times, and each time, the quality and service has been maintained. Although Covid restrictions mean that the restaurant section hasn't always been open (so I haven't yet used it), and it's usually necessary to stand outside while waiting to collect one's food, this doesn't detract too much from the overall experience. Last time, I had a large portion of chips with my fish and it was LARGE! So be warned, unless you're a glutton like me. Good, tasty fish, good service and reasonably priced, so I don't think you'll be disappointed.
We ate in the restaurant and had cod, chips and mushy peas. Quick and friendly service. My partner had gluten free and the batter was light and crispy. Both meals were delicious Covid-19 measures in place. Highly recommended
