Easy to find, plenty of parking. Just be aware of off lead dogs in the road and carpark if you have a nervous dog with you. The castle gate house is a striking building from 1300s, main part of castle is demolished but foundations plus gatehouse make it well worth a visit. Super views if the countryside.
The castle is a short walk up the hill from the car park and the views are beautiful. There's apparently a 2 parking fee, but it's not quite clear how you pay for it, so you might want to check that before you leave your car. We only stayed for about 5 minutes and didn't see anyone at the car park.
Nice little castle, or ruin thereof.. situated on higher grounds than the surrounding areas which makes it great for enjoying the scenery. Lots of space for a picnic with family.
we popped along late on a Saturday afternoon. we made the mistake of thinking we couldn't drive up through the gates and so parked down the road, but up until 18:30 you can drive up and park in the car park and then walk up the short, steepish path. lovely views of the surrounding area, pleasant 30 mins spent there, blowing the cobwebs away. a good place for a walk and possibly a picnic. no loos or anything that we could see though. will go again.
