We went to Doesburg for a afternoon trip and we were walking down the historic areas and it is smack in the middle of it. The building is massive and from 1350s (well unbelievable). It is a great place and sit down in a beautiful court-yard and have a cup of coffee. You can sit inside too. You can go upstairs or in the cellar (where they sell wine??) The serving personnel were wonderful. I always enjoy these little shops in historic buildings. It was actually part of the Dutch military even a hundred years back and you can see the pictures. The building is literally amazing.
Easy going stay with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Rooms are basic, but very clean, comfortable and quiet. Fairly simple but adequate breakfast buffet; however, the restaurant meal in the evening was quite impressive, well prepared and presented; the wine was also great quality. Had this hotel had a gym or a pool then I would have given 4 x stars.
