Poor afternoon tea March 2019 Booked this for my daughters birthday after the cinema for myself and my two daughters with Simon who I believe is the owner when having coffee and gluten free carrot cake recently with my friend. He said it was originally 14.00 each but 9.00 when booked online. I told him that it would be two normal and one gluten free and I paid in advance. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted drinks. We all had a coffee and the afternoon tea was brought out for three people. I asked where my gluten free afternoon tea was and once he’d checked the booking he came and told us mine had been given to another table by mistake! He told us he would sort mine out. When mine came the sandwiches and the scone were nice and a tiny tiny piece of carrot cake but the rest of the cakes were out of a packet that you can buy in Morrison’s! I was very happy with the scone in fact it was really nice and I was told it was baked in-house. As for the rest of the cakes they were absolutely rubbish. My daughters got minute pieces of banana loaf and chocolate brownie and mini macaroons which are usually gluten free but I didn’t get any! As I had to wait for my afternoon tea my coffee was cold so I ordered more coffee and my daughters had tea. There was no apology for the mistake or my having to wait and to top it all we were asked to pay for the second beverages! Having cancelled afternoon tea at Oulton Hall which admittedly is dearer, in favour of here this will not happen a second time!! I’d say you definitely get what you pay for but I’m afraid that’s not the case here! I think Simon would benefit from a course in customer service and good manners!! Date of visit: March 2019
Just got a take out sunday lunch at work. It smells divine. Tastes even better. The gravy is the best gravy iv ever tasted in my life. Yorkshire pudding so light and tasty. Perfect veg not overcooked. Pie is better than any iv had from a restaurant. So happy! Best take out ever . Thank you :)
Just had the most fantastic afternoon tea sandwiches so fresh cakes to die for chocolate brownie was delicious then a lovely scone and jam and cream coffee was lovely as well. Staff lovely and felt safe. Thank you
A fantastic restaurant with a small but varied menu. The Early Bird was surprisingly good, offering two courses for only 15. The seafood paella was great and the sticky toffee pudding was sensational - not to be missed! In addition, they had a good drinks menu and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My dining guests were equally impressed and we will definitely return again.
