I visited the Minster late on Christmas Eve to listen to the bell that tolls on this day. I'm an elderly man and don't feel I present a threatening attitude or appearance. I looked in through the foyer door and tentatively opened it. A lady approached and I explained the reason for my visit but was cut off being spoken to abruptly and told to get on my way. Ten years ago I received a very courteous reception when I looked in. I recognise security is important but so is courtesy.
Peaceful atmosphere. Beautifully maintained building and grounds. Delightful people and facilities. Town centre location. Good road access. Multitude of shops and services nearby .
Great piano concert by Edward Whelan. Shostakovich never sounded better! Best 7 I've spent this year
