Founded by former Detroit Mayor, NBA Hall of Famer, and businessman Dave Bing, the Bing Youth Institute supports programs and activities that are designed to improve the academic, behavioral, and social wellness of young men of color. One of the most prevalent issues facing many urban communities throughout our country is the plight of young men of color. Our signature initiative is the BINGO (Boy Inspired Through Nurturing, Growth and Opportunities) mentoring program. This initiative matches young black men in grades 7th-12th with successful male role models in over 23 metro Detroit area schools. We create a meaningful mentoring experiences that will help to unleash the unlimited potential of urban young men. Through the BINGO mentoring program will provide mentees a safe environment to seek advice and guidance, to mature, and to improve their decision making skills.
