I filed a tax protest in the spring of 2020. I never had an ARB hearing, nor received an acknowledgment that Denton CAD had even received my tax protest. Yesterday (Dec 21) I called Denton CAD they said they haven't been able to schedule hearings because of COVID-19, but will do so as is practical. Meanwhile, they told me that I need to pay the property taxes by the January deadline on their FULL ASSESSED VALUE! They went on to say that in the future, they would issue a refund/credit if one was due. Umm...that's not fair, and not far off from tyranny. How about they let me pay taxes on the undisputed portion. Then, after the ARB hearing, they bill me for the difference? In the end, if I owe them money, they have means to collect it. If the reverse is true, the common man will have an expensive and uphill battle he can ill afford.

Messed up..I still have not received a 2020 tax bill on a commercial property.
Completely wasted my time. They explained to me how they missed my homestead exemption form and that I would need to fill out another one and send it in so they would reissue me a new appraisal form to submit to my mortgage company to reflect an accurate escrow amount. After numerous calls and completing all necessary documents, they now tell me that the original information they gave me was incorrect and that I had basically been wasting my time as I would have to wait until October.
It's a tax collecting entity, what do you want me to say. Taxation is theft.
