Took my fender telecaster to David for a fret board redressing. I expected him to take the guitar, fix it and give it back to me but the service was so much more! He had a detailed look over the whole guitar and then asked me to play so he could make any suggestions to improve the guitar. After leaving it with him for only a few hours, the guitar now plays incredibly well - probably better than when I bought it! 10/10 for service and result!!

I’ve been to see David 4 times now since moving to Perth. It really is a totally different service compared to what I was used to anywhere else. Chatting through the guitar issues in real time and being able to tweak and input into how adjustments were being made was great. It’s always good fun to trade stories as he’s going over the instrument. I will definitely be returning to David in the future as it’s without a doubt one of the most interesting and worthwhile guitar repair services I’ve experienced. I’d recommend to anyone in need of some guitar work being done.

I recently had an old Martin D16A down to David for some work. It needed a neck reset, a new bridge and a new saddle. I am delighted with the result and would highly recommend David to any one in need of work. He regularly kept me informed on the progress of my guitar. The guitar was near unplayable before and is now set up to play beautifully. I will certainly use him again for any work in the future and a big bonus that he is located in central Scotland.

A class act from start to finish! David is a very friendly and extremely knowledgable Luthier at the absolute top of his game! Replacing the neck of my classic Fender Telecaster then setting up action to match my guitar style. I left delighted with my guitar looking and playing the best it ever has! 100% recommend. Thanks Garry

I had my 67 Martin d18 on David's bench a few weeks back for a neck reset, partial re-fret and a custom bone saddle and nut fitted. I was at a crossroads with this old Martin i.e I recently purchased her but was very disappointed with her sound/presence for what should have been a very strong 67 Martin with the more desirable maple bridge plate and brazilian board etc. When I got her home after the work had been carried out I changed the strings to Martin Monel retro 11s and I knew from the first chord that she was \alive\ again and sounding very strong and \punchy\. I went for the standard set up which feels just great with a nice action. Also, you would hardly believe she has just had major surgery i.e no real evidence at all on her and the new frets look really good i.e very similar to the originals/difficult to tell they have been replaced. Well chuffed................. I will not hesitate sending David my 71 Martin d18 and my 56 Gibson j50 for a \once over\ assessment to make sure there are no issues and they are playing as good as they can. Good luthiers are difficult to find up north and especially ones that keep in touch and update you on progress along the way. In addition the turnaround time is very quick compared to other experiences I have had lately with other luthiers south of the border. All in all a very good first experience.
