A must visit place in Sri Lanka. Make sure you don’t harm the place by writing on walls and by walking on ancient structures. Be careful from moneys as they can be aggressive over food. You can see a mesmerizing view at the top and will be amazed by the archeological remains.

Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka. Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World this ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is probably the most visited tourist destination of Sri Lanka.

Historical wonder that brings a sense of awe at every turn, from the water infrastructure to the massive and impressive structures built on top of the rock itself. The views of the whole Kingdom below only brings to life the magic of this place. A must visit place in sri lanka, more than once!

It was sad to see how empty this place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But I’ve enjoyed this time as I’ve spend few extra hours just to relax myself as not many people around. If you are planning to visit Sigiriya make sure you are on your walking and outdoor gears. Approximately 8000 steps . I would suggest that you would buy something from the street sellers just help for the local communities as they have suffered heavily in this pandemic time

The place is quite exceptional. It is the best thing you can visit in Sri Lanka. Combination of gardens, steep red rock, frescoes, ruins and palacee is simply stunning. There are many steps on the way up, including iron staircase. The ascent takes anything between 20 to 60 minutes. It is best to go there in the evening or early morning. The heat is less intense and there are fewer people. Views from the top are stunning and unforgettable.

Sigiriya is named one of the eight wonders of the world and rightfully so. The irrigation systems among other things are beyond impressive for its time. However, the climb is quite tiring. I wouldn’t advise those with weak health to make this climb. There are two separate entrances, one for locals and another for foreigners. The path is comparatively easier for the second entrance but the ticket price is relatively higher.
